Hello all.
Just got back from the concert in Detroit at the Palace. IT ROCKED!
Andy was there......they dedicated the show to his father's memory and played "Ordinary World" and "Save A Prayer" at that point.

The guys were obviously having A LOT of fun. Smiles all around and running and jumping etc. The crowd STAYED ON IT'S FEET almost all night, the only exception was during "Tiger Tiger" when about half of us needed a break from all the dancing and screaming, and sat down to get a rest. The energy in that place was off the scale!

Andy was PUNISHING his guitars! He stomped his feet, banged his head and bounced around for the whole show. I should also mention that he smoked almost non-stop! At one point (during the "no-guitar" first verse of "Careless Memories") he even ducked behind his amp stack to light up! Andy broke a guitar string during "Bedroom Toys" and
jumped back as the string snapped across his hand, even dropping the cigarette out of his mouth as he yelled "Owh!" (or something like that, probably a curse!) He continued through the song almost as if nothing had happened, he just played the higher chords down an octave to avoid the broken string.

Simon was his usual entertaining self. Licking his fingers and doing "fingering" gestures during "Come Undone". My wife paid very close attention to that part....."Looks like he knows what he's doing!" she tells me. :-)

John was wearing black leather pants....a fact that I missed, but my wife was ALL TOO EAGER to point out to me.....she had been watching that part very closely as well!

I was SO impressed by the show.....they rocked the place so hard....."Careless Memories" stands out as the best performance of the night for me....while my wife danced and wiggled herself into a frenzy during "Bedroom Toys". (Simon's intro: "We all know what kind of toys BOYS like.....fast cars, motorbikes, boats. But what sort of toys do you think GIRLS like? Are they "Kitchen" toys? No, I don't think so. Are they "Living Room" Toys? No, of course not! They're "Bedroom Toys"!)

I saw many digital cameras at the show. It's just a matter of time before some stills get posted on the net. Can't wait, I chickened out and didn't bring mine in.....I should have, security was almost non-existant. No pat-downs at all, just "open your purse....ok go on
in."

Nick had his fun with the camera too. He turned it on each member of the band during the band introductions in the middle of "Girls On Film" and the live feed went to the 5 screens behind the stage. He even panned through the crowd, looking at all the signs and posters being held up. "Nick, will you sign my 45's?" he got a good laugh at that sign, even seemed to shake his head "Yes", but I don't know if anything came out of that.

At the end of the show, they all lined up at the front of the stage for bows (and roses tossed at them) and Roger gave Andy a huge hug, a pat on the back and a kiss on the cheek. You could tell how happy the guys were that Andy was there, and how they were supporting him during these trying days (his dad passed away just the morning
before). The crowd went NUTS when Andy stepped onto the stage, and again when Simon introduced him before the first song (Pointing at him...."We have Andy Taylor back tonight!").

An INCREDIBLE show. The place was PACKED! I saw only a few empty seats here and there, not even enough worth commenting on, even the "nose bleed" sections were packed!

This was my second Duran Duran show (1st in '87) and my wife's first. I think she was screaming just as often, if not more than me! I know we'll be going to another show, as soon as they come back to our area again. Hope it's later on this tour.....the reaction they
got here, they should come back soon.
